Mia’s artistic practice involves painting, drawing, animation, printmaking and analogue photography. In her paintings, collages and mix-media drawings, she is interested in abstraction, gesture and the working of visual design principles such as colour, contrast, rhythm, balance. Her works echo fascination for surfaces and the concepts such as subjectivity of an image, trace and indexicality of the (photographic) print and of drawing.

Mia Paller (1995, Ljubljana, Slovenia) received her MA degree from Media Design: Lens-Based Media course at Piet Zwart Institute of Willem de Kooning Academy in 2020. Before that, she graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (Slovenia, 2018). She was awarded a study grant of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. Mia Paller presented her work at festivals and group exhibitions, amongst others in Equrna Gallery (Ljubljana, 2018 in 2021), Hiša kulture Pivka (Pivka, 2021 and 2023), Kino Šiška (Ljubljana, 2021), MGLC (Ljubljana, 2022), Kula Gallery (Beograd, 2022), The Social Hub (Rotterdam, 2024 and 2025) and KunstWerkt (Schiedam, 2026). Her work was also showcased in solo exhibitions in DobraVaga Gallery (Ljubljana, 2019), Hiša kulture Pivka (Pivka, 2019 and 2023), Town Hall of Ljubljana (Ljubljana, 2021) and others. She was a member of the Grafisch Atelier Minnigh in Rotterdam between 2023 and 2025. Mia Paller currently lives in Rotterdam. She teaches at the Willem de Kooning Academy and continues her studio practice in the C3 studios in Charlois.
